Each skein is 3.5oz and approximately 27 yards in length.

Common uses: tapestry weaving, crochet, knitting, arts and crafts, handwoven home décor, etc…

Our Sari Silk Cord is created from the remnants of sari silk production in India. The silk remnants are torn into thin strips and are then knotted or sewn together to make a continuous strand of ribbon which is then stitched. The ribbon is wound into a skein and hand-dyed. Each colorway is unique. Within each colorway, no two skeins are exactly alike.

The Sari Silk industry utilizes home co-operatives to provide a sustainable income for rural Indian communities. The co-operatives ensure that the craftspeople are earning a living wage to meet basic needs and discretionary income.

You can be certain that our Sari Silk is an eco-friendly and ethical artisan ribbon. The co-operative we work with is ISO 8000 certified, which is a Social Responsibility Certification. It means child labor is not allowed, no forced or compulsory labor, health and safety of the workers is carefully monitored, no discrimination, and the right to a living wage.
