Sari Silk Ribbon (+34 colors)
Our Sari Silk Ribbon is created from the remnants of sari silk production in India. The silk remnants are torn into thin strips approximately ½ to 1 inch wide. The thin strips are knotted or sewn together to make a continuous strand of ribbon. The ribbon is then wound into a skein and hand dyed. This ribbon is dyed in small batches, colorways can vary.
The Sari Silk Ribbon industry utilizes home co-operatives to provide a sustainable income for rural Indian communities. The co-operatives ensure that the craftspeople are earning a living wage to meet basic needs and discretionary income.
You can be certain that our Sari Silk Ribbon is an eco-friendly and ethical artisan ribbon. The co-operative we work with is ISO 8000 certified, which is a Social Responsibility Certification. It means child labor is not allowed, no forced or compulsory labor, health and safety of the workers is carefully monitored, no discrimination, and the right to a living wage.
